Go Green?...How About White?

Yes...White! We know what the term 'Go Green' means, but in this case we're referring to 'Tea'. For centuries people have been drinking the black and green teas, they're the most known of all the teas out there. But there's another which the Asian world has been enjoying for so long, if you haven't heard of this, it is white...white tea. A tea from the camellia sinensis plant just like the black and green versions, though with a few differences in look, taste and health benefits.

It has the usual antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the risks of certain cancers and heart disease, but compared to green tea, white tea is more antibacterial and has an increased amount of gallic acid as it is harvested when the leaves are young and also when they are buds, which would also contribute to a higher amount of the amino acid theanine.

Based on some coffee drinkers that I know, tea is not their cup of tea, and one of the reasons why is because of the strong taste. With white tea, even the non-tea drinker can tolerate and enjoy it because of its delicate aroma and light taste. More to come on this powerful drink, until then...Go White!
