I feel this great responsibility to shelter and protect my family
and yet, I still cannot take care of myself
And as we grow older
we appear to have drifted apart
but I know deep down inside
that the thread of life, our blood, holds us together
Their pain, is my pain and their joy, is my joy
and one's victory, is victory for us all
and one's demise, is the cut from which we bleed together
I look around me to find that we are the exception and not the rule
leaving me to wonder, are we the fools
For who is right and who is wrong
the ones who set their course and do it alone
Or is it us
keeping each other in view
hoping to ease this journey
we are all going through
and yet, I still cannot take care of myself
And as we grow older
we appear to have drifted apart
but I know deep down inside
that the thread of life, our blood, holds us together
Their pain, is my pain and their joy, is my joy
and one's victory, is victory for us all
and one's demise, is the cut from which we bleed together
I look around me to find that we are the exception and not the rule
leaving me to wonder, are we the fools
For who is right and who is wrong
the ones who set their course and do it alone
Or is it us
keeping each other in view
hoping to ease this journey
we are all going through
