YogaParent: Does Everybody Sense Pressure?

"Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world." -Mother Theresa of Calcutta

Maybe, it is not just me. Everybody talks about pressure. No one seems to be oblivious to a sense of pressure. Civilized and uncivilized worlds model pressure filled lifestyles. I wonder what Mother Theresa would say about pressure, today.

My passion for life has never been stronger, so why does life still feel like an uphill battle? I keep assuring myself that self improvement is key. My catch phrase for finding peace in the trenches of life is, "Heal the Schism within Reach." I believe suffering is choice to a great extent. And, (accepting pain with pleasure) happiness and joy are attainable to all. And, we all have access to a vast intelligence from generations that came before us. We can super-size our genius with care-full intent and attention.

It seems that infants and toddlers feel burdened by pressure. Moving through toddler years is like a right of passage. For most kids, it is a decision of power vs. force. They seem to master their will to believe and trust enough to survive.

Is this a critical step that we all take in an infinity cycle throughout life? Are we asking ourselves to trust a bit more in power, spirit or truth and less in force? Pondering these questions can lead to more questions... I believe acceptance, forgiveness, and thankfulness are means for achieving peace. As we travel through the delicate journey of humanity, everybody seems to feel the delicacy of life.

Are you feeling more pressure than peace? or vice-versa?

Looking for greater peace, I need to hear your thoughts...

I think, and I feel I had more peace when I lived as a single. Now married and with children, the pressure is on to be everything to everyone and succeeded in everything at all times. I am seeking peace and often find in my alone time in the occasional bubble bath - the only thing that soothes me, that and a ten minute yoga.
